Guardians Program Coordinator – Naujaat

Help shape a new chapter in land stewardship across the Kivalliq! The KIA Guardians Program is looking for a Coordinator to bring this exciting new program to life in Naujaat.

About the role

As part of the Guardians team, you’ll lead land-based activities, support environmental monitoring, and work closely with Elders, youth, and community members. This role is hands-on, meaningful, and rooted in Inuit knowledge—an opportunity to make a real impact by protecting lands and waters, supporting cultural continuity, and helping build community resilience in a changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead land-based activities and environmental monitoring initiatives
• Collaborate with Elders, youth, and community members
• Operate ATVs, snowmobiles, boats, and navigation tools in remote field conditions
• Apply local knowledge of wildlife, waterways, and seasonal conditions

Requirements

• Strong land skills and practical hunting and fishing experience
• Deep knowledge of local wildlife, waterways, and seasonal conditions
• Comfortable operating ATVs, snowmobiles, boats, and navigation tools
• Strong communication skills and ability to stay calm under pressure
• Good judgment for remote field work
• A combination of local knowledge, hands-on experience, and demonstrated competency will be considered
