GUARDIAN CASE MANAGER I
Under immediate supervision, manages the personal and/or financial affairs of a “protected person” under a court-ordered guardianship who is no longer able to manage their own affairs due to a medical, mental, or physical disability within the guardianship laws of the state.
About the Role
This is an Open Competitive/Countywide Promotional recruitment to fill a current full-time vacancy in the Washoe County Public Guardian’s Office. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in human services, social work, criminal justice, nursing, psychology, business, or a closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.
- Must reside in the state of Nevada or neighboring California communities such as Truckee, South Lake Tahoe, or Susanville as of the first day of work.
- Background checks will be conducted through the State of Nevada, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Employer Lynx, Inc.
- A consumer credit check will be conducted through Employer Lynx, Inc.
- New and rehired employees are required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation (effective January 1, 2025, the $39.00 fee will be deducted from the first paycheck). Employment is contingent upon the results of the background check, though a record of conviction will not necessarily bar employment.

- Annual merit increases of 5% until reaching the maximum salary for the classification.
- Upon promotion, current Washoe County employees are placed at the minimum rate of the salary range for the higher classification or receive a promotional calculation, whichever is greater.
Pay
New employees are hired at the minimum rate of the salary range for this classification.
Schedule
This is a full-time position covered by the Washoe County Employees Association (WCEA) Non-Supervisory Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
