Guarani Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Guarani-English Phone Interpreter to work remotely from your home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally
• Render accurate interpretations of conversations between Guarani and English speakers
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and enunciation
• Maintain a professional demeanor during interpreting sessions
• Stay calm and handle sensitive topics like end of life conversations, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and matters concerning sexual orientation and/or gender expression
• Adapt to any LLS technology enhancements to improve service delivery
• Follow client instructions and maintain client expectations

Requirements

• Fluency in Guarani and English
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills
• Cultural competency and ability to assess regional and accent differences
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred
• Ability to adapt to LLS technology enhancements
• At least 18 years old
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read and write Guarani and English

• Ability to remain neutral and objective during interpreting sessions
• Experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation
• Knowledge of various industries including healthcare, insurance, finance, and law
• Ability to work in a remote, flexible environment
