About the role

This role is responsible for the safe and efficient repairing and rebuilding of airport service vehicles. These vehicles include but are not limited to support trucks, stationary carts, tankers, and hydrant trucks. You will be required to inspect and identify defective or broken parts on vehicles as well as make repairs to gas/diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. The maintenance team ensures our aircraft services team can operate effectively by providing proper preventive care for equipment and timely repairs to broken equipment ensuring all work is performed safely and is supported by following established procedures and protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and identify defective or broken parts on vehicles as well as make repairs to gas/diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, fueling and mechanical systems.
  • Drive and operate refueling equipment vehicles.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment, in accordance with local health, safety, and security policies and procedures, assuring a clean and safe working environment.
  • Hydrate electric equipment according to the Hydration Schedule.
  • Repair all non-motorized equipment.
  • Able to program and understand the functions of the Rapid Charger, including the Battery Monitor and Identification Device (BMID).
  • Repair and replace all tires and wheels.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual quality control checks on the equipment.
  • Able to perform an accident inspection on involved equipment.
  • Report all accidents to Shop Supervisors and Managers.
  • Answer all radioed repair calls on the ramp.
  • Must be able to safely operate all vehicles and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) - Perform Daily Equipment Checks (DEC’s).

Requirements

  • Must have maintenance experience.
  • Coursework in diesel mechanic.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must possess valid US driver’s license.
  • Must have authorization to work in the US.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to proficiently read, write and speak English.
  • Comfortable lifting/moving 70lbs.
  • Available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions.
  • All mechanics are required to perform all duties of the other positions, as needed due to operational needs.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required Airport Badges.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Standard 1/8" - 9/16" extension 3" and 6".
  • ½" drive ratchet.
  • Sockets (deep and shallow required).
  • Standard 3/8" - 15/16" extension 3" and 6".
  • ½" drive ratchet.
  • Swivel extensions 3" and 6".
  • Sockets (deep and shallow required).
  • Standard 5/16 – 1" spark plug socket 5/8 and 13/16".
  • Combination wrenches ¼" -15/16".
  • Allen wrenches 1/16" – 3/8".
  • Crescent wrenches 8" and 12".
  • Ball peen hammer 32 oz., 4-pound sledge, punch and chisel set.
  • Phillips head screwdrivers #1 & #2, standard head screwdrivers #1 & #2, pry bar 24".
  • Air tools: 1/2" drive impact gun, OSHA approved air nozzle, tire chuck.
  • Pliers: channel locks 12", standard pliers 8".
  • Flashlight, tire pressure gauge (up to 120 PSI), tape measure (25"), oil filter wrenches (small and large), gloves, medium locking rollaway toolbox, small locking road box.
