About the role

As a Fleet Mechanic, you will be responsible for the service and maintenance of all Ground Service Equipment (GSE) at a designated station, ensuring Swissport Ramp and other service agencies operate safely with reliable equipment that meets all local and governing laws.

The expected pay rate is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and drive all types of GSE equipment – motorized and non-motorized.
  • Perform and show competence in preventive maintenance per established schedules on all ground support equipment.
  • Provide trouble-shooting and diagnostic assessment of ground support equipment as required.
  • Apply hydraulic knowledge or basics; must be willing to learn hydraulic systems.
  • Complete airport deicing training; reporting to work during snow, ice, and cold weather is required.
  • Work overtime during weather emergencies.
  • Work outside in all weather conditions year-round.
  • Remove malfunctioning ground support equipment from service and ensure GSE is not returned to service until malfunction has been accurately diagnosed and repaired.
  • Respond to emergency service calls as well as accidents involving ground support equipment.
  • Complete all maintenance/repair documentation consistent with carrier, station, airport authority, municipal, state, federal, and Swissport requirements.
  • Comply with all federal, provincial, municipal, airport authority, and carrier security requirements.
  • Retain a motor vehicle driver’s license for both airside and non-airside in good standing at all times.
  • Follow all safety guidelines set out by WCB, EPA, WHIMIS, and Swissport management.
  • Keep GSE shop and its equipment clean and serviceable; report all deficiencies to management.
  • Fuel equipment as necessary with full regard for all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Liaise with Ramp management, customers, and staff in a professional manner when needed.
  • Work as a self-starter and report to shop leads daily.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must have Clear ID.
  • Trade school training and/or a mechanical background preferred.
  • Good command of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Good oral and verbal communication skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Willing to clean and maintain a safe workshop.
  • Willing to travel when necessary for training or to assist other Swissport stations with GSE needs.
