About The Role
We're looking for a Growth Engineer to be the engineering counterpart to our Growth PM. Your unit of work isn't "tickets" — it's user activation, free-to-paid conversion, retention, and channel-level efficiency.
About OpenArt
OpenArt is a leading AI Creative Platform for visual storytelling, used by millions worldwide. We're building the next generation of creative tools powered by cutting-edge AI, enabling anyone to create videos, images, visuals, characters, and stories with unprecedented speed and imagination. We believe the future of creativity is AI-native, and we're shaping that future.
Why Join OpenArt
- Real growth leverage. Millions of users, fast-growing revenue, and a paywall and onboarding that haven't been seriously engineered yet.
- Growth Engineering at OpenArt is a builder role. You own features end to end — design partnership, code, experiment readout, follow-up.
- Category-defining product launches. OpenArt Director, global expansion, and new model capabilities — all need a growth engineer from day one.
- Hyper-growth and huge market opportunity. OpenArt is growing fast (7x revenue growth last year) and is one of the leaders in an exploding new product category.
- High ownership, low process. We value judgment, clarity, and speed over bureaucracy.
- Founder-led engineering culture. Both founders are technical and deeply involved in product and architecture.
Requirements
- 4+ years of full-stack product engineering at a consumer or pro-sumer company, with at least some of that time embedded with a growth, monetization, or onboarding team
- Strong with our stack or close adjacents: TypeScript, Next.js, React, Node, Postgres, running on a major cloud (we're on Google Cloud Platform)
- You've shipped paywalls, pricing experiments, onboarding flows, or lifecycle integrations that moved a real number — and you can walk through the implementation choices and what you learned
- Comfortable owning a feature end to end: schema, backend, frontend, instrumentation, experiment setup, rollout, and post-launch iteration
- Solid instrumentation instincts. You know how to design events that survive contact with a real funnel analysis six months later, and you've worked with tools like Amplitude, Stripe, Meta Pixel, Meta Conversions API (CAPI), and Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
- Comfortable in data analysis — you can pull your own numbers and don't wait for someone else to confirm whether your experiment moved the metric
- Strong product instincts. You can look at a funnel, talk to a few users, and form your own view on what to build next — and push back when the spec is wrong
- Bias to speed. You'd rather ship a clean V1 behind a flag today than a perfect V3 in three weeks
- Demonstrate an AI-native approach to daily workflows by effectively leveraging AI tools to improve productivity, creativity, and decision-making
Nice to Have
- Experience with experimentation platforms (such as LaunchDarkly)
- Stripe depth — subscriptions, webhooks, invoicing, customer portal, Adaptive Pricing, and the joys of off-cycle charges
- Attribution work — Meta CAPI with deduplication, server-side events, post-purchase surveys, position-bias-aware survey design
- Lifecycle tooling — Customer.io, Iterable, Braze, or similar, and the data-pipeline work behind them
- Programmatic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) — generating large numbers of high-quality landing pages from structured data, and the headless content management system (CMS) work that goes with it (Strapi or similar)
- Internationalization (i18n), regional payment integrations (Pix, UPI, KOMOJU, TapPay, ECPay), and the realities of shipping to non-English markets
- Background in consumer AI or generative AI products
- Creative tools / design software background (Adobe, Canva, Figma, or adjacent)
- You've been an early growth engineering hire before and know how to build the function as you go
What You'll Do
- Make onboarding the strongest part of the funnel. Build per-channel onboarding where it matters — different flows for paid, organic, viral, and partnership traffic. Diagnose drop-off, ship variants, and meaningfully lift activation.
- Build the paywall and pricing surface area. Paywall design, packaging experiments, plan changes, upsell flows, dunning, regional pricing.
- Own the engineering side of our free-to-paid engine.
- Build the experimentation engine. Set up the infrastructure for well-powered experiments with clean readouts: flag system, assignment, exposure logging, guardrails, and the analysis layer behind it.
- Own growth instrumentation. Event schemas, server-side tracking, Stripe webhook flows, Meta CAPI with deduplication, GA4, attribution. The stuff every growth decision depends on.
- Ship lifecycle and retention. Email, push, in-app messaging, and resurrection campaigns — the integrations, the triggers, and the experiments inside them.
- Power category-defining launches. OpenArt Director, invite-code programs, new market launches — you'll own the growth-side engineering: funnel design, flag rollouts, regional payment methods, and reporting from day one.
- Be a great partner to PM, design, and go-to-market. You're in the same room. You give honest feedback on specs, propose alternatives, and own the engineering quality of what ships.
Cash
- Compensation: $300k-$400k total compensation including base salary, bonus, equity (competitive compensation based on experience)
- Equity: meaningful ownership in what you build
Work Setup
- Bay Area (hybrid allowed)
- Visa sponsorship available
