About the role
We are seeking a grower technician to support daily cultivation and sanitation operations across our vertical farm. This role involves working alongside experienced growers to ensure the smooth operation of hydroponic systems, maintaining plant health, and ensuring food safety.
Responsibilities
- Mix nutrient solutions; monitor and adjust EC/pH levels across hydroponic systems
- Complete pre/post-shift walkthroughs, equipment checks, and documentation
- Visually inspect trays, gutters, and canopy for plant stress, pest pressure, or system anomalies; report findings to senior growers
- Absorb and apply treatments under senior grower supervision
- Set up and break down grow equipment, racks, trays, and substrate materials
- Perform scheduled lane pulls: clean gutter systems, drip emitters, and grow covers per SOP rotation
- Clean and sanitize sump tanks on a rotating schedule; log all sanitation activities in PRIVA or equivalent system
- General sanitation of tech aisle, grow lab, and grow zone floors (sweeping, mopping, debris removal)
- Pressure wash benches, trays, and cultivation equipment between crop cycles
- Clock in/out and coordinate with Machine Operators and Maintenance on lane pull timing to minimize crop disruption
- Maintain PPE standards at all times, including when working at heights
- Record environmental parameters (temperature, humidity, CO₂, light levels); escalate anomalies immediately
- Assist with data entry for crop logs, yield tracking, and food safety documentation
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Associate’s degree preferred; high school diploma or GED equivalent required
- 1+ year of experience in production agriculture, greenhouse, vertical farm, food manufacturing, or sanitation in a food-safe environment
Qualifications
- Genuine interest in agriculture, horticulture, plant science, or food production
- Basic computer literacy sufficient for digital logging and task management systems
- Reliable, punctual, and physically able to perform demanding, repetitive work
- Familiarity with hydroponic systems, growing media, or nutrient management concepts
- Prior experience with food safety programs (GAP, FSMA, SQF, or similar)
- Basic understanding of plant physiology or crop production materials, tools, and equipment
