Group Portfolio Manager, Commercial Real Estate
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be part of CIBC’s Commercial Real Estate (CRE) team, supporting the ongoing management and success of our diverse loan portfolio. As a Portfolio Manager, you'll work closely with cross-vertical Deal Team members to ensure an optimal client experience after a loan closes. Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring financial reporting and covenants
- Completing credit actions such as renewals and modifications
- Acting as a resource for Regional Group Portfolio Managers (RGPMs) during portfolio reviews
- Gaining market expertise through site visits
- Participating in industry events to stay informed
- Serving as a client advocate for portfolio-related inquiries
- Maintaining asset quality
- Ensuring compliance with internal policies
- Supporting regulatory submissions
How You'll Succeed
- Portfolio Management & Client Engagement - Interact with Deal Team members and clients to ensure post-closing activities are seamless and all parties are informed.
- Credit Actions & Analysis - Complete analysis and documentation for credit actions including renewals, waivers, modifications, and annual reviews for your assigned portfolio.
- Risk Assessment & Monitoring - Recommend risk ratings, monitor asset quality, and escalate potential concerns to RGPM and leadership when necessary.
- Market & Industry Expertise - Conduct site visits, participate in industry events, and maintain current market knowledge to inform decision-making and client relationships.
- Regulatory & Policy Compliance - Provide materials and submissions for regulatory and audit requests, and ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures governing loan originations and closings.
Who You Are
- Relevant experience in commercial real estate lending, portfolio management, or a related financial services role.
- Detail-oriented and organized, able to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.
- A strong communicator, building trust with clients and colleagues by sharing information clearly and proactively.
- Analytical and strategic, using market knowledge and analytical skills to assess risk and recommend appropriate actions.
- Adaptable and collaborative, thriving in a dynamic environment and working effectively with cross-functional teams.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package, including an expected salary range of $150,000.00-$200,000.00 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
