About the role
HANAC, Inc. – originally founded by George Douris as the Hellenic American Neighborhood Action Committee – is a New York City-based multi-faceted social services organization. The organization was founded in 1972 to serve the needs of vulnerable populations throughout New York City.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To:
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all participants through active supervision during all program activities.
- Support Group Leaders in supervising, engaging in, and facilitating recreational and enrichment activities for youth and families.
- Foster a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for participants in the Summer Rising Program.
- Aid in implementing a variety of age-appropriate, theme-based activities that promote engagement and learning.
- Help support academic enrichment by assisting with lesson plans and guiding students in their educational growth.
- Aid in the distribution and collection of parent surveys and program feedback.
- Collaborate effectively with peers, professional staff, and other departments to ensure smooth program operations.
- Maintain program equipment, storage areas, and inventory to ensure organization and safety.
- Work closely with program administration to uphold high-quality programming and best practices.
- Aid in maintaining accurate program documentation, including attendance, incident, accident, and behavioral reports.
- Communicate with the Program Director regarding any challenges or unfamiliar situations to ensure proper support and resolution.
- Actively participate in all required trainings, meetings, and special events throughout the summer program.
- Maintain consistent communication with the Program Director and complete delegated tasks in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate professionalism by completing all assigned responsibilities and using work hours productively.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- The Group Leader should be a college student who is a certified matriculating college attendee.
