About the role
The Salvation Army’s Lynn Corps. is hiring a Group Leader. This position offers a generous benefit package including paid time off, an employer-funded pension plan, and supplemental insurance options.
Responsibilities
- Meets the children at the designated area and accompanies them to the center.
- Creates an attractive atmosphere relevant to the goals and objectives of the program.
- Provides supervision and general childcare during cooperation with the Site Coordinator.
- Aids in the evening clean-up of the day care areas.
- Conducts special duties as assigned or requested.
- Assists with the preparation of daily snacks and lunches.
- Applies for the School Transport License in accordance with Massachusetts State Law.
- Safely dismisses all children and closes the center.
- Represents The Salvation Army’s spiritual ministry and social mission in the SmART Center.
- Engages in Christian spiritual conversations with members of the public and in the corps facility.
- Prays with individuals when needed.
- Recognizes spiritual needs of persons and refers them to Corps Officers, ordained ministers of religion.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old and meet one of the following OCCS sets of requirements:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s Degree, and have three (3) months of experience working with school age children.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and have six months of experience working with school age children including three months of supervised experience at a school age childcare program.
- Must have nine (9) months experience with school age children including three (3) months supervised experience at a school age childcare program.
- Must have a minimum of three (3) months of experience working with school-aged children.
Qualifications
- Education Requirements: Meet one of the above OCCS sets of requirements.
- Work Experience: Minimum of three (3) months of experience working with school-aged children.
- Other Qualifications: Ability to plan, prepare, and implement the day to day activities; responsible for assuring a high level of interest and enthusiasm when working with the children; responsible for working with the Site Coordinator and other staff to assure the safety of the children enrolled in the program.

Pay
$16.00 - $25.00 per hour. Starting pay varies depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
25 hours per week. 40 hours per week during school vacations and summer. Exempt from overtime.
