About the Role

This position will assist leadership and serve as a key regional contact by overseeing one or more Patient Service Centers (PSCs) and In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP) sites, ensuring timely and accurate operations across all segments. This includes supporting compliance, training, metrics, and administrative functions and serving as the designated backup to leadership. The role will mentor and lead onboarding, guiding new employees and clients while leveraging procedural expertise to build trust with patients, clients, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all functions of the site lead with a focus on safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Responsible for accurate entry of patient demographics, test order entry, and billing information.
  • Researches client/test information and confirms/verifies all written and electronic orders using lab information systems.
  • Safeguards credit card information and collects payments when required.
  • Performs clerical duties such as data entry, inventory, stocking supplies, and answering phones.
  • Leads the workgroup, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource.
  • Supports onboarding and training efforts for new phlebotomists.
  • Assists with employee performance evaluations and provides regular input to leadership.
  • Helps implement SOPs and distributes technical information to the team.
  • Manages location activities, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensures facilities are neat, clean, and in good repair.
  • Performs compliance audits and assists with audit submission and storage.
  • Stays updated on phlebotomy techniques and department communications.
  • Participates in special projects, team initiatives, and off-site meetings.
  • Assists with organizing territory meetings and preparing schedules.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • High School diploma or equivalent (dependent on state regulations).
  • Four (4) years of phlebotomy experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and eligibility for company auto insurance coverage.
  • Flexibility to work multiple locations, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  • Ability to travel and work occasional on-call duties.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of regulatory, accrediting, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong leadership and advanced customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Previous management experience or participation in management training programs.
  • National phlebotomy certification.
  • Completed internal career ladder through Phlebotomy Tech III or higher.
  • Additional related education and/or experience.
