Key Responsibilities

  • Teach approximately 8-10 group fitness classes per week, including midday classes.
  • Help grow participation in slower class times by actively engaging members, promoting classes, and creating a welcoming environment.
  • Deliver safe, energetic, professional, and well-organized classes that reflect URGE FITNESS standards.
  • Avoid becoming the sole face of the group fitness schedule by helping build a diverse instructor team and balanced class lineup.
  • Help build, manage, and improve the Harrisburg group fitness schedule.
  • Track class attendance, member participation, instructor performance, cancellations, and member feedback.
  • Maintain accurate class data and submit weekly group fitness reports to the General Manager.
  • Identify high-performing classes, low-performing classes, schedule gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Recommend class changes, new formats, schedule adjustments, and instructor needs based on data and member demand.
  • Help ensure the approved group fitness schedule is followed and that any proposed class changes are properly communicated and approved before implementation.
  • Assist with recruiting, auditioning, onboarding, and developing group fitness instructors.
  • Help maintain a reliable bench of substitute instructors and backup coverage.
  • Observe instructor-led classes and provide feedback on professionalism, punctuality, energy, safety, class structure, member engagement, and overall quality.
  • Report instructor performance, attendance trends, member feedback, and reliability concerns to the General Manager.
  • Help ensure instructors follow URGE FITNESS standards for appearance, communication, class setup, cleanliness, punctuality, and member experience.
  • Support a diverse group fitness schedule so members experience a variety of class types, teaching styles, and personalities.
  • Track attendance for every class and report weekly on class performance, including attendance trends, cancellations, instructor issues, member feedback, new member participation, and recommendations.
  • Maintain clear records of member engagement, community outreach, class promotions, instructor feedback, and follow-up items.
  • Use data to help determine which classes should grow, change, move, or be replaced.
  • Provide URGE Management with regular updates on group fitness performance and issues that need attention.
  • Welcome members before and after classes and help new members feel comfortable trying group fitness.
  • Actively encourage members to participate in classes, events, challenges, and community activities.
  • Follow up with members who are new to classes, returning after time away, or showing interest in specific class formats.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, energetic class environment that supports member retention.
  • Identify member concerns, compliments, and feedback and communicate them to the General Manager.
  • Support sales and member service staff by helping explain the group fitness program to prospects, tours, and new members.
  • Capture class-related photos, videos, instructor highlights, member moments, and event content for URGE FITNESS marketing use.
  • Help promote Harrisburg group fitness classes, instructors, events, challenges, and member success stories.
  • Submit regular content ideas and usable media to management for social media and marketing.
  • Help make group fitness visible, exciting, and approachable for current members, prospective members, and the local community.
  • Represent URGE FITNESS professionally in all club-related content and community-facing activity.
  • Help build relationships with local businesses, apartment communities, schools, colleges, healthcare offices, wellness providers, local groups, and community organizations.
  • Promote URGE FITNESS classes, events, trial opportunities, and community partnerships.
  • Track outreach activity, contacts, follow-ups, and results.
  • Help plan and support group fitness events, bring-a-friend classes, challenges, local partnerships, and community-building activities.
  • Ensure outreach activity produces clear follow-up, not just casual networking.
  • Report directly to the Harrisburg General Manager and support the overall daily operation of the club.
  • Assist with club cleanliness, organization, studio readiness, equipment resets, and member-facing standards.
  • Help support the front desk, tours, club events, member questions, and staff needs when appropriate.
  • Maintain a professional, visible presence in the club while staying focused on assigned work, reporting, follow-ups, and measurable responsibilities.
  • Help identify and report operational issues, cleanliness concerns, equipment problems, member complaints, and staff support needs.
  • Attend required club meetings, training sessions, and management check-ins.
  • Act as part of the club management team, not as an independent instructor working separately from the rest of the staff.

Professional Expectations

  • Make URGE FITNESS your primary fitness employment commitment.
  • Avoid outside work or relationships that create conflicts with URGE FITNESS business, members, staff, instructors, or brand interests.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive leadership presence.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with the General Manager, senior management, instructors, staff, members, and community contacts.
  • Stay organized, reliable, and accountable to weekly duties, reports, and performance expectations.
  • Be comfortable being measured by class attendance, member engagement, instructor development, community outreach, social media support, cleanliness, reporting, and overall contribution to the club.
