About the role

The Group Facilitator is responsible for leading structured therapy and support groups for participants in recovery. Day-to-day tasks include preparing group materials, facilitating discussions, teaching coping skills, and guiding activities that promote insight, resilience, and interpersonal connection. The role involves maintaining a safe and inclusive group environment, monitoring participant engagement and progress, and documenting group notes in accordance with program standards.

The Group Facilitator collaborates with clinical and support staff, participates in team meetings, and communicates observations that help inform individual treatment plans. Additional responsibilities may include contributing to program development, supporting crisis intervention under supervision, and upholding all ethical and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structured therapy and support groups for participants in recovery.
  • Prepare group materials and facilitate discussions.
  • Teach coping skills and guide activities that promote insight, resilience, and interpersonal connection.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive group environment.
  • Monitor participant engagement and progress.
  • Document group notes in accordance with program standards.

  • Uphold all ethical and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Ability to facilitate structured groups, manage group dynamics, and support diverse participants in a recovery setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Organizational skills for planning sessions, maintaining documentation, and following established treatment protocols.
  • Knowledge of recovery principles, mental health or substance use treatment approaches, and trauma-informed care is highly beneficial.
  • Experience working in behavioral health, social services, or related settings; prior group facilitation experience preferred.
  • Commitment to non-discriminatory, person-centered care and the ability to work effectively with people from varied backgrounds.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ability to work on-site full time in Indianapolis, IN, and to pass any background checks or clearances required by applicable regulations.
  • CADAC II or active license.

Schedule

  • Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday.
  • 8:30am–5pm.
