Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba is a self-help organization dedicated to helping individuals manage mental wellness through peer support, support groups, education, and advocacy.
About the Role
As a peer facilitator, you will ensure discussions remain on topic, everyone has a chance to share, and create a welcoming environment for individuals discussing their mental health. This role does not involve providing therapy or clinical advice. Training, resources, and ongoing supervision are provided. The building is wheelchair accessible.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate peer support discussions, keeping them on topic and inclusive
- Create a safe and welcoming environment for participants
- Encourage participation while respecting individual sharing preferences
Requirements
- Lived or professional experience with mental health
- Comfortable communicating in English
- Strong active listening and interpersonal communication skills
- Assets (not required but beneficial):
- Knowledge of mental wellness
- Experience organizing or guiding group discussions (training provided)
- Familiarity with the Zoom platform (training provided)
- Must be 18 or older
- Criminal record check required (cost not reimbursed)

Schedule
- One-hour weekly commitment, ongoing
