Group Facilitator - Day Treatment

Monte Nido Houston Day Treatment Program, located in Houston, TX, is a primary eating disorder day treatment program exclusively for adults seeking treatment for Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, or Exercise Addiction. Through partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programming, clients participate in group and individual therapy, benefit from Monte Nido’s clinical, medical, psychiatric, and nutritional expertise, and experience real-life challenges.

About the role

The Group Facilitator position is responsible for providing direct patient support as well as therapeutic interventions in adherence to the philosophy and principles of Monte Nido. We are seeking a per diem Group Facilitator with availability required for Monday-Wednesday (a per diem schedule has a commitment of 4 shifts a month).

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, comfortable environment and therapeutic milieu for patients.
• Model therapeutic eating habits with clients by eating provided programmatic meals and snacks aligned with the company’s nutrition philosophy to completion throughout shift.
• Engage with patients in a way aligned with the company’s therapeutic approach.
• Deliver curriculum, as needed, to groups with the ability to communicate and escalate situations appropriately.
• Run assigned groups independently and co-facilitate groups with others as needed by supporting engagement and attendance.
• Internalize feedback from manager on interactions with team and clients and work to improve based on feedback.
• Present professionally, reflecting the standards of care of Monte Nido.
• Monitor patient safety (including eating-disordered behaviors) during the program day and intervene with recovery-focused directives when appropriate.
• Participate in and monitor daily meals and snacks, facilitating Meal Pre-Planning and Meal Process Groups, and eat with clients during meals and snacks.
• Check in with clients as needed, e.g., if not in attendance, and escalate absences in real time to ensure follow-up.
• Coordinate the collection of outcome surveys and client satisfaction surveys during treatment.
• Document in daily reports and patient meal logs all information, interactions, communications, behaviors, and interventions in a timely fashion.
• Update group and meal notes within 24 hours, keeping attendance and noting any relevant details.
• Participate in weekly to bi-weekly staff meetings and treatment team meetings to continue personal and professional growth and build cohesion amongst the treatment team.
• Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of a patient’s total needs as a person, addressing psychosocial, physical, developmental, spiritual, and cultural issues as appropriate.
• Maintain working knowledge of the program’s policies and enforce them with clients in group as needed.
• Adhere to Monte Nido & Affiliates policies and procedures, including work schedule, time and attendance, and time off.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, co-workers, and others using tact and sensitivity.
• Maintain the confidentiality of patient records and communications.
• Uphold the values and philosophy of the mission statement of Monte Nido.
• Recommend quality and/or process improvement initiatives to more effectively and efficiently perform job functions.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in counseling or similar field strongly preferred.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in a relevant health-related field.
• Group therapy experience preferred.

Schedule

Per diem position with a commitment of 4 shifts per month. Availability required for Monday-Wednesday.
