Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate substance abuse and recovery-focused group sessions for clients in out-patient setting
- Encourage active participation and foster a respectful, nonjudgmental group environment
- Monitor client progress and document attendance, participation, treatment goals, and behavioral observations accurately and timely
- Identify clients in crisis and respond appropriately according to organizational protocols
- Provide education on substance use disorders, recovery resources, and community support systems
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and agency policies
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, supervision, and program development activities
- Support clients in developing recovery goals and accountability strategies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Certification or licensure or In training certificate related to substance abuse counseling preferred (such as CADC, CAC, CACI, CACII, CCIT, or CADC-T)
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders or behavioral health populations
- Knowledge of addiction recovery models, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and group facilitation techniques
- Strong communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and documentation skills
- Ability to manage group dynamics professionally and effectively
Preferred Skills
- Experience facilitating psychoeducational or therapeutic groups
- Familiarity with co-occurring mental health disorders
- Ability to work with diverse populations and cultural backgrounds
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems
