Group Exercise Instructor
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Group Fitness Director, the Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for providing creative, inviting and encouraging group exercise programs while maintaining a safe and effective learning environment and focusing on providing the best customer service and hospitality to members and guests.
Primary Job Functions
- Provide a wide variety of classes to a discerning fitness population
- Ensure classes are of the highest quality of content, safety and physical challenge
- Present innovative, entertaining and fun classes
- Remain open and attentive to the changing fitness needs of the membership
- Deliver an exceptional experience to members, guests and Associates
- Communicate timely and follow up as appropriate
- Active participation in events, programs, meetings and training
- Represent the club in a professional manner through image, dress, communication, and immediate follow through and response
- Schedule varies and may require weekend and holiday hours, days and evenings

- Assist with special club projects, events and promotions.
Qualifications
- Current Group Exercise certification with one or more of the following: American Council on Exercise (ACE), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Specialty specific (i.e., Yoga, Pilates, Les Mills, etc.) certification, as required for format taught
- Current CPR/AED certification
- Minimum two (2) years of group exercise or fitness-related teaching experience
- Professional, friendly manner and excellent customer service abilities
- Sales and Marketing -- Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, and sales techniques.
- Problem Anticipation/Deductive Reasoning -- Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and then apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems and considers the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- Oral Comprehension and Expression -- Ability to understand and communicate so others can understand ideas and information.
- Computer -- Ability to develop and maintain computer records in Word, Excel and other software required by TBCC.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Frequent public contact
- Dealing with unpleasant or angry people with the need to problem solve difficult situations
- Adapting to a frequently changing environment
- Frequent use of hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
- Frequent walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing or balancing, and dancing or stretching
- Walking around the facility
- Frequent talking and hearing
- Frequent moving of 50 pounds

Estimated Base Pay Range
$17.50 - $50.00 / hour
