Group Ex Instructor

Essential Functions

• Lead energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
• Answer questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to health and wellness.
• Maintain working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
• Build effective, authentic relationships with members; help members connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Keep accurate class attendance records.
• Ensure a high level of customer service which enhances the member, program participant and guest experience and satisfaction.
• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintaining a clean and safe facility and demonstrating professional conduct at all times.
• Respond to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 year of group exercise teaching experience.
• Certification or training in areas of expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPR/FA certification within 30 days of hire.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds, and occasionally move up to seventy-five (75) pounds in the form of supplies or equipment.
• Able to sit, stand and bend to perform appropriate tasks.
• Must be able to move at an appropriate pace to respond to emergencies.
• Follow all safety requirements of the Salina Family YMCA.
• May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
• Work in different temperature environments.

The Group Exercise Instructor should affect the overall quality and reputation and increase satisfaction and retention of the Salina Family YMCA members. The Group Exercise Instructor will engage participants in classes that meet the needs of our community.
