Position Highlights
Position: Group Aquatic Instructor
Location: Chicago, IL
Part time, 5 weekly hours
Hours: M-F 2pm-4pm, Sat 9am-12pm

What You Will Do
- Demonstrate professionalism in dealing with LifeCenter members, guests and staff
- Create a fun, healthy learning environment
- Create lesson plans tailored to the needs and goals of the group
- Motivate clients by giving encouragement and confirming pupils’ accomplishments
- Give skills and drills to practice on their own
- Use interpersonal skills to create a comfortable atmosphere where experimentation and learning combine to make a unique and fun experience
- Work to continuously improve skills as an instructor
What You Will Need
- Certification: CPR/AED Certified (must be certified within the first 90 days of employment if not currently certified.) MUST be able to obtain current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification within first 90 days of employment.
- Experience: A previous swimming background is essential and prior experience in swim instruction is preferred.
- Unique or Preferred Skills: Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to motivate and give direction. Friendly, helpful, and able to relate well with people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds.

Pay
Hourly Pay Range $17.05 - $58.05 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
Qualifications
Certification: CPR/AED Certified (must be certified within the first 90 days of employment if not currently certified.) MUST be able to obtain current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification within first 90 days of employment. It is the responsibility of the individual employee, not Galter Life Center, to complete and turn in all paperwork necessary to keep WSI certification current.
Skills
A previous swimming background is essential and prior experience in swim instruction is preferred. Group Swim Instructors must be able to demonstrate technical proficiency in the front and back crawl and the breaststroke. Unique or Preferred Skills: It is important that Group Swim Instructors have strong interpersonal communication skills and are able to motivate and give direction. Group Swim Instructors should be friendly, helpful and have the ability to relate well with people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds.
