Groundskeeper - The Castilian

About the role

As a Groundskeeper, you’ll play a critical part in maintaining an ACC student housing community. In this role, you will maintain buildings and grounds, including common areas and amenities, to enhance and preserve the property’s curb appeal. There are always opportunities to gain new certifications and grow in your career—whether by supporting nearby properties or through on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

• Clean the interior and exterior of the property to standard.
• Perform property groundskeeping, including trash collection.
• Vacuum, mop, and/or shampoo floors in resident rooms and common areas; stock bathrooms.
• Assist the service team with work orders, moving furniture, and unloading and storing supplies.
• Support the service team with apartment make-ready duties, including trash outs, cleaning, and painting.
• Assist in the property turnover process.
• Support the service team with pool maintenance (if applicable) and pressure washing.
• Safely operate all facility equipment, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
• Maintain clean and orderly shops, storage areas, and back-of-house environments, ensuring all tools and supplies are organized.
• Serve as an American Campus representative and liaison in all interactions.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Ability to drive a golf cart and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of general labor, housekeeping, and cleaning tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, including understanding and following MSDS rules for handling and use of any chemicals.
• Ability to understand and carry out written or verbal multi-step instructions.
• Certain activities involved in this position may be photographed and/or video and audio recorded for quality control and/or training purposes. Compliance with the Photo, Video, and Voice Recording Policy is a condition of employment.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a reliable and detail-oriented individual with experience in—or willingness to learn—general labor and property (apartment) maintenance. This role supports the cleanliness and upkeep of both interior and exterior areas of the property. Candidates should be able to follow multi-step instructions, work safely, and contribute to maintaining a well-presented environment. Prior experience with facilities maintenance is helpful but not required, as training is provided.
