Groundskeeper Technician: Part-Time

About the Role

The Groundskeeper Technician will ensure all outdoor areas are well-maintained, clean, and attractive to employees, students, and visitors. This role involves year-round outdoor maintenance, including mowing, landscaping, snow removal, and supporting campus operations and events.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular grounds and landscaping maintenance (mowing, trimming, mulching, pruning) at campuses in Kokomo, Logansport, and Peru.
• Conduct seasonal tasks like leaf removal, salting sidewalks, and snow shoveling.
• Remove trash and debris from grounds, drains, sidewalks, parking lots, and entrances.
• Maintain lawn care and snow removal equipment.
• Operate commercial mowers, trimmers, snowblowers, and other power equipment.
• Perform building maintenance tasks (painting, power washing, window cleaning, sweeping).
• Assist with fleet vehicle maintenance and scheduling mechanical service.
• Deliver supplies, materials, parcels, and equipment within the service area.
• Set up and dismantle furniture and equipment for events, meetings, and conferences.
• Assist with non-skilled work orders (equipment moves, fixture replacements, air filter changes, supply transport).
• Report maintenance or safety issues to the facilities team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license and eligibility to drive college vehicles.
• Willingness to earn commercial applicator certification.
• Willingness to participate in the Ivy Tech Building Construction Apprenticeship program.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, squatting, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
• Continuous use of hand strength to grasp tools and climb ladders.
• Frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds.
• Push/pull items like tables, chairs, and furniture.
• Ability to work from ladders and mechanical lifts.

Location & Schedule

Kokomo (regular travel to Logansport and Peru)
Monday–Friday; 24–28 hours per week

Pay

$15.00–$16.00 per hour
