About the role
The Groundskeeper position is responsible for performing a variety of building maintenance, repair, landscaping, and groundskeeping duties while maintaining a safe work environment and following all company policies and procedures. This role supports the upkeep of the administrative complex and multiple sow farm locations within approximately a 60-mile radius of the administrative office.
Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance and repair tasks
- Maintain grounds and landscaping, including mowing, trimming, and vegetation control
- Operate landscaping and maintenance equipment including mowers, tractors, weed eaters, chainsaws, and related tools
- Operate reel rain irrigation systems used for effluent application in accordance with company procedures and environmental regulations
- Inspect, maintain, and report equipment issues to ensure equipment remains in safe operating condition
- Assist with cleaning and sanitation activities using pressure washers, air-driven equipment, and hand tools
- Drive company vehicles to assigned locations and farm sites as needed
- Collaborate with supervisors, team members, vendors, and customers regarding maintenance, environmental, and biosecurity concerns
- Participate in training related to safety, environmental compliance, and biosecurity practices
- Follow all Tyson safety procedures, health protocols, and biosecurity guidelines
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to environmental processes and operational safety
Requirements
- Must have a valid driver's license
- 6 months of consecutive work experience in a rolling 12-month period from date of application
- Ability to safely operate landscaping and maintenance equipment
- Basic knowledge of diesel engines and pumps preferred
- Ability to pull and back trailers preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Must be able and willing to frequently lift up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Must be able and willing to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, climb stairs and ladders, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday
- Must be able and willing to safely use landscaping tools, hand tools, hoses, and maintenance equipment
- Must be able and willing to perform repetitive physical activities in an active work environment
- The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
Work Environment
- Primarily outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including hot, cold, wet, dry, and dusty environments
- Exposure to noise requiring the use of hearing protection and other required PPE
- Work schedule may include weekends, holidays, and flexible hours based on operational needs
Pay
$17.75 per hour
