About the role
Perform the maintenance and upkeep of all grounds including plants, trees, lawn areas, drives, walkways, ponds, irrigation systems, snow and ice removal, trash and recycle services, and moving services to various departments. Ensure guest safety and satisfaction through diligent care of all equipment and facilities.
Responsibilities
- Cut, trim, seed, irrigate, and apply chemicals to all lawn areas.
- Prepare beds, plant, weed, irrigate, and apply chemicals to all flower beds and planting areas.
- Clean debris, remove snow and ice, spread sand and ice melt, and repair walkways, trails, drives, and parking areas.
- Maintain trees through trimming, removal, and irrigation.
- Maintain, repair, and winterize irrigation systems.
- Maintain landscaping equipment and tools.
- Keep supervisor informed of equipment and supply needs.
- Acquire working knowledge of the Lodge and facilities to respond appropriately to guest questions.
- Keep supervisor promptly informed of all problems or unusual matters for prompt corrective action.
- Lift up to 100 lbs as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, or up to three months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using units of American money, weight, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be at least 18 years of age with a safe driving record and ability to obtain a Missouri class E or Arkansas P designated driver’s license.
- Ability to work well in a team, prioritize tasks, demonstrate a sense of urgency, and maintain a strong focus on customer service.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to sit.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
- Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat.
- Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Regular exposure to poison ivy, oak, sumac, and possibly other toxic plant materials.
