About the role
The Groundskeeper I maintains the facility and its surrounding areas in clean, safe, and orderly condition. This includes routine cleaning, minor repairs, snow removal, and assisting with maintenance projects. The role involves using various hand and power tools and coordinating with internal departments, vendors, and contractors to support the overall upkeep and appearance of the plant while ensuring compliance with safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain buildings and grounds in top condition, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and compliance with company standards.
- Perform general facility maintenance such as painting, repairing walls, replacing lights, and fixing leaks.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain and ensure waste rooms, dumpster areas, and other external spaces are clean and orderly.
- Read and follow chemical labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) accurately.
- Transport trash and waste to disposal areas using pallet jacks or forklifts as needed.
- Maintain and update plant signage throughout the grounds and buildings.
- Respond to and correct any facility-related issues identified during internal and external GMP audits.
- Perform landscaping tasks and snow removal, including salting walkways and access roads during winter months.
- Ensure door functionality and related equipment.
- Clean and organize maintenance shop tools and equipment.
- Transport small tools or equipment between departments using a pallet jack.
- Store waste appropriately and ensure proper disposal procedures are followed.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Prior experience in facility maintenance or custodial work preferred.
- Must be able to be certified to operate a pallet jack, forklift, and high lift.
- Experience using basic hand tools and maintenance equipment.
- Basic computer and recordkeeping skills required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be 18 years or older to apply.

Work Environment
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions, including wet/humid, hot, cold, or fluctuating temperatures.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels from machinery and equipment.
- May be required to work extended hours, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs.
- Frequent contact with cleaning chemicals, maintenance tools, and powered equipment.
- Required to wear safety shoes; gloves, hearing protection, and safety glasses as needed.
- High-visibility vest or clothing when operating equipment outdoors.
- Additional PPE provided as required by OSHA and company safety standards.
