Job Duties
The groundskeeper maintains and landscapes campus lawns, planting beds, wooded areas, trees and fields. They inspect the grounds to ensure conditions meet institutional grounds keeping standards.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Implements and monitors chemical and fertilizer programs
- Maintains clean and clear lawns, walkways, roadways, and parking lots to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice
- Constructs lawn and landscaping projects including soil grading, seeding, and sodding
- Identifies and acts to remedy plant diseases and insect damage
- Installs, propagates, and maintains the health of new and existing plants and landscape using a variety of vehicles and equipment
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent GED
- Hold and maintain a valid Driver’s License
Department Facilities Management
Compensation: $17.00/hour
Physical Demands
- Must be able to climb ladders, scaffolding and rooftop access stairs
- Required to carry tools and parts often weighing 50 pounds or more
- Use ropes and pulleys to hoist tools and parts to installation elevations
- Ability to tolerate working in areas where temperature may exceed 85 degrees of atmospheric temperature, or may drop below 20 degrees of atmospheric temperature
- Proper and safe tool utilization requires dexterity and mobility of hands and arms
- Long periods of standing, sitting, kneeling, walking and computer work are possible
