Groundskeeper

Qualifications

• Horticultural Experience
  • Two years experience in the care and treatment of a wide variety of plant life, including ability to identify horticultural pests and diseases.
  • Broad knowledge in the identification and care of commonly used landscape plants and turf grass.
  • Experience and working knowledge of proper methods in pruning shrubs, mowing/edging lawns and cultivating plants.
  • Ability to maintain and safely operate power driven equipment, e.g., mower, edger, trimmer, shears, generator, renovator and aerifier, as well as various hand tools.
  • Ability to work as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
• Oral communication skills to obtain or convey clear, concise and grammatically correct information.
• Skill in reading standard English text in order to follow through on written orders and carry out assignments.
• Ability to write simple English text using correct grammar and spelling to complete reports, forms and work orders that are accurate and easy to comprehend.
• Working knowledge of standard safe work practices.
• Ability to maintain good attendance.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends and special events.

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

• Must possess California Driver's License, Class C, and ability to drive a University truck or other light vehicle in the course of duties.
