About the role

This position involves regular scheduled tasks and projects for the maintenance and upkeep of the City golf course. Duties include mowing, planting, raking, pruning, fertilizing, and irrigating turf areas, trees, shrubs, and other plant materials.

Responsibilities

  • Mows, plants, rakes, prunes, fertilizes or irrigates turf areas, trees, shrubs and other plant materials on the course and clubhouse areas according to direction.
  • Follows manufacturer's label instructions for application of fertilizers, weed killers and other chemicals for turf and course maintenance.
  • Operates all standard golf course equipment (riding mowers, tractors, push mowers, weed eaters, hand tools, etc..).
  • Modifies the course for daily play including moving tee markers, ropes, greens cups, etc. to vary the course setup.
  • Conducts general janitorial and custodial duties as assigned at the golf facility.
  • Performs maintenance and repair of golf course and clubhouse irrigation systems.
  • Regularly attends to general janitorial and custodial duties as assigned at the golf facility.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Individuals working with chemical applications will need to have reading, writing, and simple math skills.
  • Must have physical coordination to operate equipment.
  • The work week for this position is six days.
  • Occasionally, there may be instances of longer hours for special projects.

Qualifications

  • Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
  • Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, and functional assessment screening (Level 2).

Skills

  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Able to work in a team environment, contribute as a team member and treat co-workers and customers with respect.

Benefits

Regular Full-Time employees are scheduled to work at least 40 hours per week and are eligible for the City's benefit package, subject to the conditions and limitations of each program. Regular Part-Time employees are scheduled to work at least 30-36 hours per week and are eligible for some City sponsored benefits subject to conditions and limitations of each program. The City of Grapevine offers a generous and comprehensive benefit package including vacation, holiday, and sick leave as well as medical, dental, life insurance.

Routine and frequent exposure to bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, extreme noise levels, animals/wildlife, vibration, fumes and/or noxious odors, traffic, moving machinery, electrical shock, heights, toxic/caustic chemicals, and other extreme hazards not listed above. Safety equipment such as gloves, goggles, hard hats, safety vests, steel-toe boots, back support belts, and seat belts are provided and must be worn as required by department procedures and good safety practices.
