Responsibilities
- Assists with maintaining grounds upkeep, landscape operations, and repair of equipment under the direction of grounds supervisor.
- Participates in preparing and grading terrain, applying fertilizers, seeding and sodding lawns, and transplanting shrubs and plants.
- Plants new and repairs established lawns, using seed mixtures and fertilizers recommended for soil type and lawn location.
- Locates, plants, and cultivates shrubs, trees, and flowers recommended for landscape effect.
- Mows and trims lawns. Trims shrubs and cultivate gardens. Cleans grounds.
- Sprays trees and shrubs, and applies supplemental liquid and dry nutrients to lawn and trees. Digs trenches and installs drain tiles.
- Ensures that mowing and landscaping equipment and apparatus is in safe working order. Make repairs to mowing and landscaping equipment and apparatus as necessary.
Requirements
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must have a valid drivers' license.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight, volume, and measurement.
