About the Role

This management position is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of employees engaged in maintaining the grounds and keeping golf course turf in playing condition. The role focuses on ensuring guest and employee satisfaction while achieving the operating budget.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in evaluating and implementing new technologies, equipment, and supplies.
  • Communicates regularly with golf professional staff and tournament coordinators to meet tournament needs and special set-ups.
  • Determines work priorities and schedules employees for tasks such as fertilizing, irrigating, seeding, mowing, raking, and spraying.
  • Ensures lawns and plantings are properly watered, fertilized, and cared for to promote healthy growth and prevent problems.
  • Ensures contractors comply with safety policies and procedures and deliver quality work.
  • Helps ensure regulatory compliance with facility regulations and safety standards.
  • Manages the overall look of the golf course, including lawn care, irrigation, horticulture, pruning, weed control, pest, and disease control.
  • Maintains equipment for optimum effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.
  • Keeps accurate logs and records as required.
  • Manages parts, supplies, and equipment inventories within budget.
  • Mixes and prepares recommended spray and dust solutions.
  • Supervises and manages employees, understanding their roles to perform duties in their absence.
  • Communicates the importance of safety procedures and ensures employee understanding and compliance.
  • Develops goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
  • Encourages teamwork, mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Ensures and maintains employee productivity and understanding of expectations.
  • Provides guidance, direction, and performance standards to subordinates.
  • Creates a positive atmosphere for guest relations and emphasizes guest satisfaction in departmental meetings.
  • Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service and ensures quality standards are met daily.
  • Identifies educational needs, develops training programs, and instructs others.
  • Assists in interviewing and hiring employees with appropriate skills.
  • Conducts departmental orientation programs for new hires.
  • Ensures employees are cross-trained to support daily operations.
  • Administers property policies fairly and consistently, including disciplinary procedures and documentation.
  • Ensures necessary permits and licenses are obtained and kept current.
  • Trains employees in safety procedures and supervises execution of emergency procedures.
  • Participates in employee progressive discipline and recognition programs.
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solutions.
  • Stays up-to-date technically and applies new knowledge to the job.
  • Promotes golf course maintenance as a career through involvement with local schools.
  • Provides information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates via various communication methods.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related major and 2 years of experience in landscaping/grounds or a related professional area.
  • OR 4-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related major with no work experience required.

Pay

Annual pay range: $68,000 - $84,000. Bonus eligible.
