Grounds Mechanic I
Qualifications
A High School diploma or G.E.D. is preferred. A current valid Texas Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas school Bus Driver’s requirements is required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience in lawn maintenance, automotive or small engine repair, and diesel engine repair, and must have their own mechanic tools.
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Able to do repairs on all types of lawn equipment, including linetrimmers, blowers, edgers, ZTR’s, walk behind mowers, etc.
- Excellent trouble shooting skills with gasoline small engines and diesel engines.
- Experience in hydraulics, clutches, injectors, and tractor implements.
- Able to procure parts for various models and makes of equipment.
- Able to communicate effectively with Foreman and Supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all equipment.
- Make needed repairs to all tractors and lawn equipment.
- Make quick turn around on all work orders.
- Make repairs on all diesel equipment.
- Make repairs on all tractor implements.
- Keep accurate and organized inventory of parts for all equipment.
- Keep Foreman and Supervisor advised on condition of equipment.
Working Conditions
The ideal candidate must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds, be available to work different schedules or shifts to accomplish tasks, and be available for after hour demands, subject to 24-hour responsibility. They must also maintain emotional control under stress, be able to work alone, and keep information confidential.
Terms Of Employment
This is a 261 day position with a salary of $22.66/HS-9, based on verifiable job-related experience, as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year.
