Grounds Maintenance Laborer

About the Role

The Grounds Maintenance Laborer is responsible for the upkeep of the landscape around our buildings. This includes routine tasks such as mowing, trimming, weeding, pressure washing, sweeping walkways, and watering plants. The role involves using various tools and performing occasional preventative maintenance on facilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain landscaping and grounds around designated areas
• Mow lawns, trim weeds, and rake leaves
• Prepare soil and maintain bedding
• Plant and maintain flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubs
• Perform preventative maintenance on indoor and outdoor facilities
• Clean all pedestrian surfaces and walls
• Perform routine maintenance on power equipment
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least two years of related experience
• Horticulture knowledge
• Knowledge of gardening techniques and products such as fertilizers and pesticides
• Must pass a federal, state, or local government background investigation

Skills

• Proficient written and oral communication skills
• Ability to operate power equipment (lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, etc.)
• Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping
• Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments
• Extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes
• Excellent time management skills

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
• Occasional exposure to loud noises
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessary
• Ability to hear and see for positioning and safety requirements
• Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
