Job Title: Grounds Maintenance Laborer Department: Facilities Maintenance & Operations Job Summary: The Grounds Maintenance or Groundskeeper to take care of the landscape around our buildings. Your primary responsibilities include performing routine upkeep, such as mowing the grass, trimming shrubbery, weeding, pressure washing and sweeping walkways, and watering plants when the weather is dry. You may use a variety of tools, such as a power mower or a rake, to complete your duties, in addition to occasional preventative maintenance on the facilities. The work requires a well-rounded individual with several years of landscaping or cleaning experience. Our ideal candidate already has prior groundskeeping experience. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Duties/Responsibilities: Maintain landscaping and grounds around designated areas Mows lawns, trims weeds, and rakes leavesPrepares soil and maintain bedding Plant and maintain flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubsPerform preventative maintenance on indoor and outdoor facilitiesClean all pedestrian surfaces and wallsPerforms routine maintenance on power equipmentOther duties as assigned Required Skills/Abilities: Proficient written and oral communication skills according to skill requirementsAbility to operate various types of power equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipmentAbility to use hand tools required for landscapingAbility to follow instructions and complete assignmentsExtensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processesExcellent time management skills Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalentAt least two years of related experience requiredHorticulture knowledge Knowledge of gardening techniquesKnowledge of gardening products such as fertilizers and pesticides Physical Requirements: Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with handsOccasional periods of prolonged exposure to load noises Ability to lift up to 75 pounds at timesAbility to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands as necessary Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals Special Qualifications/Requirements: Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation Disclaimer: The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and that additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time; or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.
