Grounds Crew Laborer

About the role

This position involves maintaining and repairing cemetery grounds, operating powered and hand tools, assisting with burials, and performing seasonal snow removal. The role requires adherence to performance standards set by management and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a respectful and detail-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Meet performance standards established with the employee’s manager, including quality of work, timeliness, and other relevant criteria
• Perform general maintenance and repairs to cemetery grounds to ensure they remain well-maintained and presentable
• Operate powered equipment such as mowers, trimmers, edgers, sod cutters, and chain saws
• Use hand tools including shovels, rakes, clippers, and saws
• Install and maintain sprinkler systems and perform landscape construction and maintenance tasks such as planting, pruning, and sodding
• Assist in burials at grave sites and maintain grave sites appropriately
• Remove snow from walks, driveways, and parking lots; spread salt as necessary
• Perform other duties as assigned to support cemetery operations

Requirements

• One year of experience in a related field preferred
• Valid Utah driver license
• Knowledge of maintenance equipment such as mowers, aerators, trimmers, etc.
• Knowledge of sprinkler system design and installation
• Understanding of safety precautions associated with equipment operation
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisors and the public

Pay

$37,500–$45,500 annually, depending on experience
