Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Performs all work from the ground.
- Clears work area around structures.
- Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specification.
- Communicates work to be performed to public and private property owners.
- Assembles material on the ground to be installed by the lineperson or apprentice.
- Flags traffic.
- Operates various tools for the work (various manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come a long, jack hammer and hand line etc.).
- Works in an efficient and safe work environment for employees and contractors in strict accordance with all customer and company practices and procedures.
- Provides leadership for all Operator/EMJ apprentices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- RARE(up to 10%): stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing poles, reading, reaching, color vision, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, climbing stairs, balancing, lifting up to 10 lbs.
- OCCASIONAL(up to 33%): sitting, kneeling, body twisting, sense of touch, seeing distant, climbing on/off truck, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., range of motion, depth perception, lifting up to 50 lbs.
- FREQUENT(up to 66 %): standing, walking, manual dexterity, gripping, lifting, carrying.
- CONTINUOUS(up to 100%): speaking clearly, seeing, hearing-speech range.
