Groundman Distribution/ Transmission

Responsibilities

• Performs various manual tasks in the construction and maintenance of overhead power lines, including digging trenches, setting poles, installing wires and transformers, and performing routine maintenance checks.
• Assists the lineman with their tasks.
• Assembles materials on the ground and hoists them into the work area using handlines.
• Assists other crew members in filling pole holes and trenches using a shovel.
• Flags traffic and sets up job sites as directed.
• Maintains organization of tools and materials on work vehicles.
• Cleans up and organizes job sites at completion of work.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Class A level experience installing and maintaining underground power lines.
• Valid CDL A is preferred.
• First Aid Certification is required.
• Competency in CPR and pole top rescue is required.
• Experience with digger derricks, bucket trucks, trenchers, and groundwork with utility crews is required.
• Must be able to pass drug, alcohol, and background checks.
• Must be able to pass a physical examination.
• Able and willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Able and willing to work for extended periods in various locations.
• Able and willing to work in all types of weather environments, including inclement weather.
• Able and willing to work overtime when required.
• Understanding of the utility industry and operations.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed outside in all types of weather environments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Required to have close visual acuity to perform job duties.
