Position Summary

The Groundman is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation's Power Grid. You will report to the Foreman.

Essential Functions

  • Perform new construction, maintain and repair de ‑ energized powerlines while putting safety first.
  • Help install and repair overhead transmission lines, poles, insulators, conductors and related hardware.
  • Regularly lift heavy tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
  • Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.
  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools in good work order.
  • Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Follow all safety protocols and understand when to wear Personal Protective Equipment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 60 days.
  • Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work for extended periods at different job locations, including out ‑of ‑state assignments.
  • Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites.
  • The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
  • You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
