About the role
As a Telecommunication E2E System/Ground Tools System Engineer/Architect at Thales Alenia Space, you will provide specialized engineering expertise in the design and analyses of E2E systems and Ground Segment sub-systems and components. Your responsibilities include system/subsystem performance analyses, defining Ground Tools to enhance E2E performance, and contributing to secure Time Transfer Control (TTC) systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering expertise in E2E systems and Ground Segment sub-systems and components throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to the definition of Ground Tools aimed at improving E2E performance, such as interference detection, mission planning, signal analysis, and more.
- Perform System/Subsystem Performance Analyses to break down requirements, including Link Budget, BER evaluation, code correction performance, coverage analyses, pointing loss, linearity and distortions, phase noise and jitter simulation, switching stack probability, resource assignment, and mission planning simulations.
- Collaborate with payload architecture, design, and manufacturing teams, focusing on RF equipment, repeaters, and antennas.
- Assess link budgets and capacities, understand waveform, ModCod standards, and IoT architectural concepts.
- Engage in integration and testing, quality control, and procurement activities for antenna and payload equipment.
- Develop and validate software products using programming languages like Java/C and design tools such as STK, Satsoft, MATLAB, and Simulink.
- Communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
- Stay updated with new technologies and systems, work independently, and contribute to team objectives and project deadlines.
- Participate in international and diverse teams, and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Be available to work at customer premises for at least 50% of the year.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or equivalent field with a specialization in telecommunication or RF electronics engineering.
- Average grade point score of 105/110 or higher in On Ground System design and Mission Planning.
- At least 2-4 years of relevant work experience in RF engineering, preferably in a space industry environment.
- Knowledge of payload architecture, design, and manufacturing, including RF equipment, repeaters, and antennas.
- Understanding of link budgets, capacity assessments, waveforms, ModCod standards, and IoT architectural concepts.
- Experience with SW design tools such as STK, Satsoft, MATLAB, and knowledge of UHF and L Band technologies.
- Skills in antenna and payload equipment procurement activities.
- Experience in programming languages (Java/C) and payload computer simulation (Matlab, Simulink).
