About the role

The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of ground support equipment at airports. This role involves inspecting, maintaining, and coordinating repairs of ground support equipment, while also providing training and guidance to colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Complete GSE inspections and ensure equipment is appropriately maintained
  • Ensure third parties repair equipment in a timely and effective manner
  • Provide coaching and guidance for safe and effective use of GSE
  • Update training materials and provide support and guidance with GSE standardization
  • Manage the end-to-end process of GSE operations
  • Monitor GSE allocations and report any deficiencies to station leadership
  • Ensure GSE is properly staged at gates and remote locations
  • Inspect for and clean FOD from GSE to ensure safety
  • Ensure the accuracy of GSE daily reports and equipment allocations
  • Perform audits and submit recommendations for improvements
  • Investigate equipment performance irregularities and submit recommendations
  • Manage the equipment return to use process
  • Develop relationships with GSE providers and program management staff
  • Evaluate and communicate safety issues with GSE and the operating environment
  • Educate teammates on the appropriate use of equipment
  • Interface frequently with multiple team members, internal and external customers, and various departments

Requirements

  • General understanding of GSE and inspection guidelines
  • Two (2) years of airline experience with proven skills in station operations
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional work ethic and ability to work with all work groups
  • Ability to work autonomously and help others
  • Able to communicate with internal and external departments
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary Port, Customs, and DMV driving clearances
  • Valid driver's license
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including overnights, weekends, and holidays
