Ground Support Equipment Mechanic

About the role

The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic is responsible for ground support equipment repairs at Horizon Air. As a member of the Ground Support team, this role ensures properly maintained ground equipment and may require travel to other cities to repair equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform cost-effective repair of ground support equipment.
• Prioritize equipment repair needs and work with the manager to provide adequate equipment to the field.
• Maintain equipment in safe condition and keep track of parts to create work orders.
• Analyze maintenance programs and troubleshoot equipment problems.
• Collaborate with leads, supervisors, and managers to provide responsive service to the station's repair needs.
• Travel to other cities up to 50% of the time to repair equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 2 years of maintenance experience, which may include fabrication, auto body, automotive mechanics, heavy-equipment (diesel) mechanics, and electric vehicle and generator mechanics.
• Ability to qualify to operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) and not be currently disqualified from operating a CMV.
• Must be able to obtain a current DOT medical certificate.
• Ability to provide a list of violations or the certificate required to qualify as a DOT driver under the provisions of the 49 CFR.
• Must have an adequate complement of own tools.
• Authorization to enter and exit Canada.
• Valid unexpired driver’s license issued by a US state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
• Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach, and grasp.
• Ability to travel to other cities up to 50% of the time.
• Ability to work a variety of schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work in some inclement weather conditions.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to obtain airport security clearance.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 21.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE Certification.
• Technical trade school in repair and maintenance.
• Electric powered vehicle experience.

Pay

Starting rate: USD $29.13/hour. Overtime pay at 1.5x base rate applies when working outside of the base station (approximately 50% of the schedule). A $2,000 hiring bonus is paid after 30 days of employment for external candidates.

Schedule

This position requires the ability to work a variety of schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Travel to other cities is required up to 50% of the time.

Additional Requirements

Employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar must obtain and maintain a SIDA badge. Failure to qualify or maintain a SIDA badge will result in termination.
