About the role
Horizon Air’s Ground Support Equipment Mechanic ensures that ground vehicles—trucks, transports, vans, automobiles, and other equipment—are as reliable and safe as our aircraft. This role is ideal for an auto mechanic with strong electrical systems, diagnostics, and problem-solving skills who shares our values and commitment to creating an airline people love.
Responsibilities
- Perform cost-effective repairs on ground support equipment.
- Prioritize repair needs and work with management to ensure adequate equipment availability in the field.
- Maintain equipment in safe operating condition.
- Track parts inventory and create work orders.
- Analyze maintenance programs and troubleshoot equipment problems.
- Collaborate with leads, supervisors, and managers to provide responsive service to station repair needs.
- Travel to other cities to repair equipment as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2 years of maintenance experience (automotive, diesel/heavy-equipment, electric vehicle, generator mechanics, fabrication, or auto body).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a current DOT medical certificate and qualify as a CMV driver under 49 CFR.
- Authorization to enter and exit Canada.
- Valid, unexpired U.S. driver’s license.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and grasping.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time and work varied schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work in inclement weather and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to obtain airport security clearance and communicate in English.
- High school diploma and minimum age of 21.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
Qualifications
- Preferred ASE Certification.
- Technical trade school training in repair and maintenance.
- Experience with electric-powered vehicles.

Pay
Starting rate: USD $29.13 per hour. A $2,000 hiring bonus is paid after 30 days of employment for external candidates only.
