About the role
We are seeking a Grooming Salon Leader to lead and manage grooming salon operations and team members. You will deliver expert grooming services, foster a positive work environment, and drive salon performance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensure smooth workflows, optimize scheduling, manage inventory, and execute staffing plans
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of entry-level trainees up to professional level grooming staff, providing coaching, feedback, training, and performance evaluations
- Create and manage efficient grooming schedules, monitor salon performance metrics, and develop action plans
- Collaborate with store management to achieve sales targets, implement strategies to grow the customer base, and boost profitability
- Interact professionally with pet parents, provide exceptional customer service, address grooming inquiries, and offer recommendations
- Perform expert grooming services, operate grooming instruments, evaluate pet needs, educate pet parents on grooming maintenance, and ensure a clean, safe grooming area
- Handle pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy, monitor pets for signs of discomfort, illness, or injury, and report concerns to pet owners and store management
- Utilize grooming policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure safety, quality, and consistency in all grooming activities
Requirements
- 2+ years' experience as a professional groomer or completion of a technical grooming training program
- Strong leadership skills, 1-2 years previous experience of salon management or related field, preferred
- High school diploma or GED, though not required
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills
- Expert knowledge of various dog breeds, grooming requirements, common health issues, and behaviors
- Expert-level proficiency in breed-specific cuts, styling techniques, and grooming standards
- Genuine passion for animals with a desire to continue a career in pet grooming
- Results-driven, committed to salon productivity, performance, growth, and improvement
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring grooming services are accurate and to the highest standards
- Available to work full-time, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as needed by the Pet Care Center's grooming schedule
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: 2 or more years' experience as a professional groomer and/or completion of a technical grooming training program
- Leadership skills: Strong desire to lead, train, and develop people, with 1-2 years previous experience of salon management or related field, preferred
- Communication skills: Very strong verbal and written communication skills for interactions with pet parents and grooming team members
- Knowledge: Expert knowledge of various dog breeds, grooming requirements, common health issues and behaviors, and expert-level proficiency in breed-specific cuts, styling techniques, and grooming standards
- Passion: Genuine passion for animals with a desire to continue a career in pet grooming
- Decision-making and problem-solving: Results-driven, with focused commitment on salon productivity, performance, growth, and improvement; strong attention to detail, ensuring grooming services are accurate and to the highest standards
- Availability: Available to work full-time, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as needed by the Pet Care Center's grooming schedule
