About the role

The Grooming Salon Leader at Petco is responsible for leading and managing grooming salon operations and team members. You will deliver expert grooming services, foster a positive work environment, and drive salon performance.

Responsibilities

- Oversee day-to-day operations of the grooming salon, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows. - Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of entry-level trainees up to professional level grooming staff. - Create and manage efficient grooming schedules that optimize salon capacity and customer demand. - Monitor salon performance metrics, analyze data, and develop action plans. - Collaborate with store management to achieve sales targets and salon objectives. - Interact professionally with pet parents, provide exceptional customer service, and address grooming-related inquiries. - Stay updated on grooming industry trends and best practices. - Independently perform professional grooming services, including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning. - Operate and maintain various grooming instruments. - Evaluate individual pet needs, educate on grooming maintenance, and provide custom recommendations. - Ensure the well-being and safety of pets in the salon, monitor for signs of discomfort, illness, or injury, and report concerns. - Perform quality checks, maintain a clean and safe grooming area, and disinfect grooming tools and equipment.

Requirements

- 2 or more years' experience as a professional groomer or completion of a technical grooming training program. - Strong leadership skills, with 1-2 years of previous salon management or related field experience, preferred. - High-school diploma or GED preferred. - Expert knowledge of various dog breeds, grooming requirements, common health issues, and behaviors. - Expert-level proficiency in breed-specific cuts, styling techniques, and grooming standards. - Genuine passion for animals with a desire to continue a career in pet grooming. - Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. - Results-driven focus on salon productivity, performance, growth, and improvement. - Strong attention to detail, ensuring grooming services are accurate and meet high standards. - Ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy. - Availability to work full-time, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as needed by the Pet Care Center's grooming schedule.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interactions with pet parents and grooming team members. - Strong attention to detail and ability to execute grooming services accurately. - Capable of handling pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy. - Availability to work full-time, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as needed by the Pet Care Center's grooming schedule.

Pay

Payment is in accordance with the Grooming Salon Leader Incentive Plan details.

Schedule

Full-time position, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as needed by the Pet Care Center's grooming schedule.
