Grocery Service Assistant (Richard's Market)
About the role
Provides support to the Grocery operations which include; produce, kitchen, deli and meat. Provides friendly, attentive and prompt customer service while working in a variety of departments.
Responsibilities
- Produces: receives, prepares and stocks in the produce area.
- Kitchen: Assists in preparing grab and go food items and pastries.
- Meat: Assists with wrapping meat, fish, poultry and properly labels products.
- Conducts regular inspections of produce, meat and prepared foods to ensure quality assurance of products.
- Receives and inspects all produce that arrives at the grocery store and inspects for quality and weight.
- Inspects refrigerators and produce section to ensure that products are stored properly.
- Safely handles all equipment used in the butcher area.
- Participates in the ordering of meats and produce.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
- One year of experience in a grocery store, preferred.
- Requires knowledge of different kinds of meat, fish, poultry, and produce.
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices for preparing and serving food.
- Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner.
- Requires working to the established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance.
- Able to think and make effective decisions quickly.
- Ability to create effective working relationships with people.
- Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.
Qualifications/Requirements - Continued
- Required Work Cards/Certifications: Current TB Clearance.
- Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision. Must be able to physically lift heavy materials/tools.
Pay
$21.48/hour (non-exempt).
