Main Responsibilities
- Acknowledge, greet, and engage guests entering my area or department.
- Maintain proper stock levels in grocery, dairy and frozen departments.
- Interview, train, schedule, and manage performance of all grocery department team members (including frozen, dairy, grocery, and night crew).
- Complete and communicate performance evaluations in a timely manner within the department.
- Enforce proper rotation procedures.
- Manage all dairy/frozen and grocery merchandising.
- Order seasonal merchandise and maintain records of movement.
- Coordinate and maintain all displays and quantity purchases.
- Estimate and purchase grocery and dairy/frozen ads.
- Collaborate with grocery DSD partners on displays and buy-ins.
- Organize and maintain backroom areas, including frozen and dairy vaults, and the outside area behind the store.
- Control, safeguard, and monitor all store assets, ensuring policies and procedures are implemented for asset control.
- Perform other duties as requested or required by upper management.
Key Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- The Assistant Grocery Manager is required to work an average of 40 hours per week, involving multiple opening, closing, and day shifts depending on store needs.
- Minimum of one year store experience.
- Maintain Certified Food Safety Manager certification.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time (up to 6 hours).
- Ability to bend, lift, and perform all other physical aspects of the job.
- Function as a team member and get along with others.
- Accept supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits, and attitude.
