About the role
The Grocery Manager oversees multiple departments including Grocery, Dairy, Frozen Food, and Beer/Wine. Responsibilities include ensuring proper handling of products, controlling costs, managing labor, preparing for inventory counts, and engaging and evaluating team members.
Responsibilities
- Ensure products are handled properly, rotated for freshness, and date controls are performed
- Control costs by monitoring operations and reducing losses due to shrink, damage, and pilferage
- Aid in the preparation of the store for physical inventory counts
- Assist or oversee the unloading of trucks from distribution centers, verifying deliveries and reporting shortages and overages
- Manage ordering, compliance, sanitation, back-room inventory, and department safety
- Coach, provide feedback, and conduct one-on-one development discussions with team members; make recommendations for merit increases
- Attend and participate in in-store meetings; recruit, hire, and make promotion/transfer decisions with the Store Manager
- Exercise independent judgment to address team member concerns; take and document corrective actions as needed
- Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to maximize productivity and efficiency
- Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members
- Lead a team that collaborates to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest experience for customers
- Serve as a Key Carrier for the store or act as a Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed
Qualifications
- At least 18 years old with 1 year of managerial or supervisory experience in a multi-department operation within the retail, hospitality, or service industry
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to take and give direction in a team environment
- Outgoing and friendly behavior, with a positive attitude and ability to interact with customers
- Past experience building, motivating, and maintaining staff, with a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals
- Strong focus on detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Food Safety certification
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to vertically transfer milk trays weighing up to 60 lbs., boxes weighing up to 50 lbs., and perform repetitive squatting/kneeling/bending for up to 30 hours
- Knowledge of federal, state, and company regulations for product freshness, food safety, weights and measures, store safety, employee safety, refrigeration, and sanitation

Pay
The pay range for this position is $19.80 - $31.70 / hour. Sprouts Farmers Market determines pay based on applicable experience and qualifications of the applicant.

A flexible schedule that changes as the business changes, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
