About the role
Assists in managing Grocery Department operations, including scheduling, ordering, productivity, budgeting, inventory, gross profit, and reporting. Supervises and coaches Grocery Department staff, and models and provides excellent, professional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Models and provides excellent, professional customer service
- Assists the Grocery Coordinator in overseeing Grocery Department operations, including merchandising, scheduling, ordering, productivity, budgeting, inventory, gross profit, and reporting
- Helps train, supervise, and evaluate all grocery department staff
- Stocks grocery displays with attention to quantity, quality, timeliness, appearance of displays, and merchandising plan
- Handles price changes and signage
- Acts as back-up to Grocery Coordinator and oversees department in the Coordinator's absence
- Participates in long and short-term department planning
- Ensures department sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards are met
- Helps maintain integrity of organic standards for the bulk department
Requirements
- Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service
- Flexible schedule with availability to work evenings and weekends
- Ordering and inventory management skills
- Strong merchandising skills
- Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
- Excellent leadership, teambuilding, problem solving, and communication skills
- Computer knowledge and skills including Microsoft Office products and file management
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to meet physical demands of position including standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion, and lifting between 10-40 lbs regularly
- A current Food Worker Card from the Washington State Department of Health is required
- If hired, a Certified Food Protection Manager certification (e.g., ServSafe) is required (paid for by PCC)
- If hired, a CPR/First Aid Certification is required (paid for by PCC)
