Responsibilities
- Absorb and maintain a safe and clean environment to encourage customer loyalty.
- Achieve and exceed sales and profit targets set by the department manager.
- Maintain and monitor all established quality assurance standards.
- Embrace and implement the Customer 1st strategy, encouraging associates to provide excellent customer service.
- Display respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety in all interactions.
- Handle stressful situations effectively and communicate clearly.
- Show knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Promote trust and respect among colleagues.
- Answer questions about products and suggest additional items to customers.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
- Inform customers about dairy specials and provide fresh products.
- Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay updated with store promotions, advertisements, and seasonal changes.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
- Participate in reinforcing safety programs by following safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report all safety risks, illegal activities, and other issues.
- Work collaboratively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflicts in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Qualifications
- Minimum ability to handle stressful situations.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Retail experience is desired.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
