Responsibilities

• Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and a welcoming, clean environment.
• Assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals while monitoring quality‑assurance standards.
• Embrace the “Customer 1st” strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent service.
• Demonstrate core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
• Answer customer questions about department and store‑wide products, providing suggestions and product samples.
• Inform customers of dairy specials and provide fresh products ordered by customers.
• Recommend items to ensure customers receive the products they want and need.
• Check product quality, review “sell‑by” dates, label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
• Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
• Adhere to all food‑safety regulations, maintain proper case and cooler temperatures, and keep temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management of accidents, safety risks, or illegal activity (e.g., robbery, theft, fraud).
• Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repair needs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates and maintain a positive attitude.
• Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment and manage conflict in a non‑confrontational manner.

Requirements

• Ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
• Strong communication skills.
• Basic math proficiency (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Retail experience (desired).
• Ability to work cooperatively and manage conflict reasonably.
• Honesty and integrity in handling customer and business information.
• Willingness to follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
• Capability to provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
