About the Role

Responsibilities
- Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
- Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get the products they want and need.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness and review "sell by" dates, taking appropriate action.
- Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products they have ordered.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, including maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers and logging temperature records.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department to respond to questions and make suggestions.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions for store management.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate manager of needed repairs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Requirements
- Customer service skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
