About the role
The Grocery/Bulk Manager is responsible for the successful operation and profitability of the Grocery and Bulk Departments, including training, directing, and monitoring all department staff. Department Managers also fulfill the duties of the Manager on Duty (MOD) on a scheduled basis.
Responsibilities
- Provide world-class customer service as a top priority.
- Exemplify integrity, responsibility, and excellence while adhering to all policies.
- Create inviting, full, and shoppable grocery and bulk departments.
- Order products for the grocery and bulk departments and maintain accurate inventory levels.
- Manage margin and overall department profitability, including minimizing shrink and maximizing effective purchasing.
- Ensure all in-stock products and conditions meet company standards.
- Offer and follow up on special orders.
- Merchandise shelves, endcaps, and dynamic displays.
- Manage and participate in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock.
- Train and monitor department personnel, including assigning and following up on tasks.
- Work with other department managers to cross-train staff.
- Conduct active and passive demos.
- Assist in interviewing and hiring for department needs.
- Work with the store manager to address performance and/or disciplinary issues.
- Open and close the store, including DSR and the closing cash process.
- Handle register functions, including backup cashiering, managing customer returns, addressing complaints, and covering shift changes.
- Maintain the safety and security of customers and employees.
- Manage business disruptions such as loiterers, solicitation, emergency weather, or bathroom misuse.
- Answer customer questions per company standards and policies.
- Continually increase product knowledge.
- Use SAP, inventory management software, BEx, and other IS programs as needed.
- Work a schedule based on store needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Work five days, 40 hours per week, and attend mandatory store meetings.
Requirements
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- 1-2 years of retail experience in a grocery or retail environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to pass food safety training courses and maintain compliance.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and stay focused on tasks.
- Must be able to obtain forklift certification.
- Sense of urgency in completing tasks.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction and follow through.
- Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Pay
USD $19.00 per hour
Schedule
- Five days, 40 hours per week
- Evenings, weekends, and holidays required
