Grocery Associate

Job Summary

Aids the department manager in achieving sales and profit targets. Restocks products across the store. Enhances customer confidence and loyalty through consistent and compliant operations. Ensures fresh, appealing merchandise and provides courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service.

Responsibilities

• SERVICE: 70%

  • Create welcoming, valued environments to foster customer confidence and loyalty.
  • Maintain department merchandising according to plans.
  • Ensure shelves are stocked with adequate product availability, freshness, and correct signage.
  • Offer assistance in locating or recommending products.

• LEADERSHIP: 10%

  • Promote trust and respect among team members through collaboration and communication.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal laws, as well as company guidelines.

• FINANCIAL: 10%

  • Monitor inventory and report discrepancies.
  • Inspect products for quality and freshness, taking corrective actions.
  • Maintain proper temperatures and document temperature logs.

• COMPLIANCE/SAFETY: 10%

  • Maintain compliance with safety, food handling, sanitation, and productivity standards.
  • Execute product recalls and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Report accidents, safety risks, and illegal activities.
  • Comply with wage and hour policies.

Qualifications

• Education

  • High School / GED preferred

• Experience

  • 0 - 3 years of supervisory experience preferred

• Language

  • English required, Spanish preferred

• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be 18 years old
  • Ability to obtain authorization to work in the US
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills

• Environmental Factors

  • Physical Demands: Stand, walk, use manual dexterity, talk, see, hear, smell, perform repetitive movements, reach, carry, push, lift up to required weights, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb up to 30 ft., twist back and/or neck, walk on slippery or cluttered surfaces, work with hazardous equipment, be exposed to hazardous cleaning solutions and toxins.
  • Working Conditions: Indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, and wet/humid environments.
  • Safety Risk Factors: Exposure to loud noise, skin irritants, nuisance dust, fumes and sprays, hazardous cleaning solutions and other toxins, twisting back and/or neck, walking on slippery or cluttered floors, working with hazardous equipment, exposure to sharp objects, and occasional overnight travel.

• Required Equipment

  • Cleaning supplies and equipment, general office equipment, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, material handling equipment, personal protective equipment (Goggles, Gloves, Back Brace), pulling requirement (250 lbs.), lifting requirement (50 lbs.)
